This
claustrophobic
rambler needed
to open up and
reveal its
hidden beauty.
Once the
partition walls
came down, the
owners saw the
designer's
vision as a
spacious,
flowing floor
plan centered on
an elegant
kitchen with a
quaint lounging
area flanked by
a functional
family room,
living room, and
dining room.
The project's
goal was
achieved within
the original
exterior walls,
saving cost of a
major structural
addition by
listening,
creative use of
space, and
attention to
