This time of year, when winter fades, and we begin transitioning into spring, usually leaves us feeling a little sentimental. We’re celebrating our fourteenth year in business this spring, a milestone that fills us with endless gratitude.

As we reflect on these past fourteen years, we’re reminded of our great fortune to help so many fantastic clients create their dream homes. Whether it’s building a home from the ground up or remodeling an existing one, our team always enjoys the challenges and triumphs of each project.

Above all, what we really want to say is thank you! To our past and future clients, our sincerest thanks for your support. We couldn’t do our work without you, and we’re looking forward to providing exceptional service for many years to come! In the meantime, we hope you enjoy a little Q&A with our owner, Andy. Scroll below to learn more about Andy and what inspired him to start Schrader & Companies.

Why did you start your business? Was there something specific that drew you to this industry?

I’ve always loved thoughtfully designed houses. I grew up watching my dad, an interior designer, make sure every detail of our home had his thoughtful touch. My journey started with becoming a carpenter in college, before become an architect, then project manager, and finally design/build. I love taking a thoughtful design and making it into a tangible, beautiful home.

What’s your favorite part of the building and remodeling process?

When we walk through a house with the client at signification stages of construction, and they have wide eyes and gratitude for what has been achieved—especially at the end of the project when everything is complete, shiny, and new.

What is your favorite type of project?

It is really fun taking an old, ugly house and transforming it with a new floor plan, updated curb appeal, and gorgeous aesthetics.

What do you love about your clients?

Their trust and willingness to push the design limits in order to create their dream home. And, of course when they see the final reveal and really appreciate the hard work that went into creating it. Our honest approach often creates friendships in the end.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since you started your business?

The importance of leadership, not only for our team but also for subcontractors, and in a lot of ways our clients. Without an honest and confident approach, people can lose focus and the drive to achieve our end goal, which is to create a client’s dream home.
